Moscow Research Institute of Oncology named after P Hertsen is one of the first oncological centers in Russian Federation. At the moment it is the leading oncological institute of the Ministry of Health RF, on the basis of which there is a single country cancer register.
The clinic was the first to start the practice of developing and introducing laser surgery into oncology. Thanks to the many scientific developments of the Institute, it was possible to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of many types of malignant tumors.
Today in the personnel base of the clinic there are 5 academicians, 2 corresponding members, 94 doctors of medical sciences, 247 candidates of medical sciences and 468 researchers.
Within the institute practical applications were found by the latest technological developments:
- Cyber knife;
- SPECT-CT;
- HIFU-therapy;
- Photodynamic therapy;
- Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D, IMRT, IGRT).
